Photography Shoot Welsh Valley Medium Format Camera
Date: 14 February 2023Location: Pontneddfechan, Wales
Conclusion:
During one of my photographic shoots with a model in a Welsh valley beside a waterfall, I was not able to use the equipment confidently enough. This was primarily due to my lack of understanding, the use of a manual light metre, and my lack of ability. I left with the few images I had captured with my DSLR camera, frustrated that I had not accomplished what I had set out to do and extremely disappointed with the result. The shoot did not work out the way I wanted it to. I felt very rushed due to the weather and variable lighting conditions. Unfortunately, it felt like I had wasted my time with this model and it knocked my confidence, so I did not shoot for a while..
Photography Shoot Wild Horses, Medium Format Camera
Date: 16 February 2023Time: 4pm Location: Llantrisant
Conclusion:
After returning to University and speaking with the technician in-depth, I borrowed the medium format camera for a second attempt. This time, I wanted to photograph wild horses on the common near where I lived. The equipment was more challenging than imagined, pushing my understanding of how to capture an image manually. I must admit that utilising a DLSR with an in-built light metre versus a separate one was a bit of a shock. With the camera, light metre, and subject matter all being unpredictable in terms of movement, I was absolutely out of my comfort zone. The horses were quickly moving but I perceived and I felt it could improve my technique. Luckily I was able to acquire some photographs with my husband for support, which I later processed in the darkroom at the university. After processing the film, I was overjoyed to discover that I had really managed to capture something, though these remain unprinted.
Photography Shoots ‘On the Road’
Date: VariousTime: Various
Location: Various
As per the map on the online gallery. From South Wales to Warwickshire and vice versa. Conclusion: There were four photographic shoots travelling from South Wales to Warwickshire that were not planned, to be honest, it was when the weather was favourable. It took quite a few hours of frustration as I was capturing the shots in a moving vehicle. It was not as easy as it looks. I have definitely learnt a technique which I will continue to use in the future.
